Membership in the Central Indiana Chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society (CIC-ATOS) is open to anyone. You don't have to play the organ or know anything about organs at all to be a member of CICATOS. All that is required is a love of the music. You may have an interest in learning to maintain or play a theatre pipe organ. Or, you may want to learn the technical aspect of these wonderful instruments. Some of our members just love to listen to the big sound of the theatre pipe organ and are proud to be able to support the preservation and promotion of these national treasures through their membership in the chapter.
The Central Indiana Chapter (CIC-ATOS) is one of 75 ATOS chapters throughout the world. With over 300 members it is also one of the largest chapters. As a member you will receive the acclaimed bi-monthly national society journal, THEATRE ORGAN, which contains in depth articles of interest to all theatre pipe organ enthusiasts, and the monthly newsletter ATOS International News. Also, members receive the local chapter issued newsletter the CIPHERS, informing them of chapter meetings, local concerts, and other various chapter activities. CICATOS Membership also includes open console playing privileges for members and their guests, full voting privileges, and the opportunity to participate in all activities of CICATOS and ATOS. Each year ATOS stages, for its members, a 5-day national convention during the summer and a 3-day regional convention in the fall.
Chapter meetings are usually held on the second Sunday of each month at 2:30 p.m. in various organ-equipped locations around the central Indiana area. Meetings consist of a short business session, a 45 minute concert by one of the members or a visiting artist, "open console" where members and guests are welcome to play the organ, and plenty of refreshments and opportunity to socialize. The chapter occasionally takes overnight bus trips to give Central Indiana Chapter members an opportunity to experience theatre organs in other Midwestern cities. Recent trips have included cities in OH, MI, WI.
Your membership supports the preservation and promotion of these instruments. As a member of CICATOS, you can join with us to preserve fine theatre organs, present concerts and enjoy the company of others who share our common interests. The sooner you join, the sooner you'll start enjoying all the benefits of membership in CICATOS.
Annual membership dues are $50 for national ATOS (a membership includes two adults and dependent children living in the same household) and $25 for CIC-ATOS. Because we are a nonprofit, tax exempt organization, all donations are tax deductible.
